Techniques
Through unwinding tension patterns that may stem from repetitive actions, an old or new injury, or postural issues we can relieve structural challenges. We offer an equal focus to the central nervous system throughout each session so the brain can participate in your structural shifts during and after treatment. Through this integration of different body systems and parts you will be offered pain relief, an increase of your range of motion, more joint stability and many other benefits specific to you. Keep reading for a few (I am constantly learning and integrating other techniques into sessions) of the techniques we incorporate to offer you a one of a kind session.
VISCERAL MANIPULATION
As a continued student and practitioner of Visceral Manipulation techniques from French Osteopath Jean-Pierre Barral the integration of this work has transformed, yet again, the way I work with beings/bodies/humans. Gently integrating these techniques into the structurally focused soft and hard tissue treatment offers for an even more sustainable shift in the entire being, body, mind and energetic bits.
Visceral manipulation is another manual therapy technique that focuses on assessing and gently manipulating the internal organs of the body to improve their mobility and function. We aim to address restrictions or adhesions within the visceral organs and their surrounding tissues, which may result from trauma, surgery, inflammation, or chronic stress among other life experiences. The use of specific palpation techniques allow areas of tension or dysfunction within the abdomen, pelvis, and thorax to be found and changed. We apply gentle, precise pressure to release adhesions, restore mobility, and enhance organ function. In the end, we are communicating on a cellular level, impacting exclusion zone and bulk water in the body which has the ability to shift the many layers that make each of us, well, us.
Deep Tissue Bodywork
Through a sensitive awareness of soft tissue touch, I work with you to soften superficial layers and gain access to layers beneath. There is no forcing through layers of soft tissue that are not ready to let go and that’s where my deep tissue therapy is different then what you may have experienced in the past.
Deep Tissue does not mean deep or painful pressure. Our body is built up in layers of soft tissue; muscle, tendon, ligament, fascia, lymph, veins, arteries, and organs. Therefore, the work I give is slow, direct, and broken down to gain access into these layers and works with and around them.
Lymphatic movement AND DRAINAGE
Moving and supporting not only the lymphatic system, but also the glymphatic (brain), circulatory and nervous systems as they are all deeply connected. Really we should be describing these tissues are neurovascular bundles because that’s what they are! Nerves need blood flow too! And guess what? Nerves need to release and detox metabolic waste from all the work happening within neurons which means the lymphatic and glymphatic systems have got to be integrated too, right!
It’s all so beautifully connected! We work with your lymphatic and glymphatic systems as they move through the body naturally, with pressure and gravity. Our cavities (head, chest, abdomen, pelvis, limbs) are pressurized differently, supporting the flow of fluid back to the heart for removal from the body. Teaching you as we go so you can start to integrate your own regular support at home!
Neuromuscular/Trigger Point Therapy
Have you ever found an area of super sensitivity, tenderness, or felt tissue that fatigued quicker then you remember?
Those are caused by trigger points that may or may not have painful satellite spots associated with them. Through direct pressure, awareness of the tissues density, and participation of your tissue contraction we can release trigger point pain and tissue tension while allowing fresh blood flow to help heal the areas from the inside.
Neuromuscular therapy helps improve postural distortion, nerve compression, biomechanical distortion, ischemia, and pain while supporting the integration of a variety of modalities.
Cranial-sacral therapy
CranioSacral Therapy is a very gentle, hands-on method that focuses on balancing the cerebrospinal fluid and releasing tension within the layers of membranes that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Integrating the cranial bones and tail bones (sacrum and coccyx) and any tension within and around the bones and sutures/joints, allowing for pressure to balance and fluid to flow.
The offering of support to the central nervous system through this balancing of cerebrospinal fluid and release of tension allows signals within this system to fire and flow in a softer more resilient way. Supporting the softening and release of headaches, migraines, sinus pressure, head pressure, chest congestion, relief with breathing and so much more. This work is a portal for you entire being to snuggle up into all while releasing deep areas of physical, mental, emotional and energetic tension.
Myofascial Unwinding
Being that fascia connects everything, well, that means if it’s sticky and stuck it can start to pull on all the attachments it has, to everything. My work incorporates attention to the snags fascia can have on our muscles, ligaments and bones.
From our skin to our muscles, ligaments to bones, nerves and organs, When our fascia becomes tight, sticky, or stuck, it can react similarly to a snag in our t-shirt fabric. It starts to pull the fabric from every direction and contorts the way it lays.
The work is gentle but very effective and brings self awareness to you and your body.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization
How do you use a foam roller? Is it comfortable or painful? Do you find it hard to connect to your breath? Do you become fatigued in other areas while trying to roll your pain and tension out?
Wouldn’t you rather shimmy and sink into the tender spots while being able to breath through the pain?
Throughout the years of working in restaurants, giving structural bodywork, keeping up with 3 dogs, snowboarding in the winter, and staying active in the summer I have come up with endless options to help release bound up soft tissue tilizing these tools and many more.
Keep your eyes peeled for my Foam Roller Workshops where you’ll go home with amazing knowledge and tools for releasing your own bound up tissue or come in for a session and leave with knowledge to control you’re own pain and tension.
